Apple Arcade is set to end its second year next month, as the service was announced by Apple in March 2019 and then released to the public in September of that year. A few weeks before its second anniversary, Apple Arcade has now reached the bar of 200 games available in its catalog, which includes original and classic titles.

Jan 28, 2012 Before the App Store, Apple used to sell a limited selection of click-wheel games that users could play on their iPod using just a circular wheel (here’s a full list). Unfortunately, Apple removed the iPod Click Wheel section in the iTunes Store in September 2011 when they discontinued support for the iPod classic and iPod shuffle. More than 30 classic games have been added to Apple Arcade since April, including titles like Monument Valley, Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja, and Angry Birds. This marks a big move for Apple’s gaming.

In addition to exclusive games, Apple this year announced two new categories of games for Apple Arcade, which are “Timeless Classics” and “App Store Greats.” More than 30 classic games have been added to Apple Arcade since April, including titles like Monument Valley, Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja, and Angry Birds.

As noted by CNET, Apple’s gaming platform broke the 200-game mark on Friday after the addition of Super Stickman Golf 3 to the catalog. When Apple Arcade released in 2019, there were around 100 exclusive titles available, but Apple had already promised that new games would be added every week.

This marks a big step for Apple’s gaming service with a two-pronged approach. First of all, the large list of remastered iOS classics is sure to be a hit with users old enough to have played the originals as well as those new to them who are viewing them for the first time.
