As it is a Windows program, thus to install it on Linux, we have only one option that is using Wine HQ, thus we won’t give any guarantee that it will work perfectly on your system, however, give it a shot just because it worked fine in our case.
The steps are given here will also work for the previous versions of Ubuntu such as 19.04/18.04/17.04/16.04 including Linux Mint.
To install Wine HQ’s latest version on your Ubuntu 20.04 LTs Linux, first, add its GPG key, and then using the second command get the repository of Wine on your system.
Also, enable 32-bit Artchetecute support:
To make sure our system has successfully recognized the newly added repository, run the system update command to rebuild the repo’s cache.
Now, install Wine HQ, a Windows program loader for Linux operating systems.
We cannot download Roblox setup directly from the official website where it is available only in AppxBundle or UWP app format that only can be installed using the Microsoft store on Windows 10 or 8. Thus, here we will download Windows 7 version from some third-party websites such as Filehorse. (Don’t worry it will automatically get updated to the latest version once installed). You can use any other website as well. Here is the link to get the Roblox executable file on your Linux. Once the downloading is completed, you will get the RobloxLauncher.exe file in your Linux Download directory.
Now, simply right-click on the executable file and select “Open with Other Application” and then go for the app “Wine Windows Program Loader“.
Before installing Roblox on Ubuntu Linux, the Wine will ask you to install Gecko and Mono installer for your system. Do that. Once the process is completed, the system will start the Roblox installation wizard and also upgrade the older version to the latest available one.
You will see the game icon on your Ubuntu desktop, to make it executable, right-click the icon and select the option “Allow Launching”.
Double click on its shortcut icon to start the Roblox game on your Ubuntu 20.04 Linux.
When it asks you to log in, do that to use it further, the new users can simply create a new account.
In case you want to remove Roblox from Ubuntu then open the command terminal and type:
From GUI Wine Program removing window select Roblox and click the Modify/Remove button.
