Malwarebytes comes with a free version that will allow you to scan and clean your mac if it is infected. The paid version offers more features such as real-time protection against things such as viruses, spyware, and malware infections. The premium subscription is $39.99 per year for a personal license. OS X 10.6.8 Malware removal? I work for a school district that still deploys Macbooks running 10.6.8 and we're starting to see malware issues popping up on them. We used to use the TSM Adware Removal tool but since they were purchased by Malwarebytes the tool is no longer supported.

That's a permissions repair, not a disk repair. Those are just 'messages' not indications of malware. As long as you see: Permissions Repair Complete when repairing permissions, that's good.
When the system slows down that can be an indication there's not enough free space on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
